Master of Science (MS) in School Counseling:

 California State University, Sacramento

Bachelor of Science (BS) in Criminology:

California State University, Fresno

Originating from California, I've embraced North Carolina as my home for the past six years. My professional journey began in youth services, where I dedicated myself to empowering young girls living in group homes to strive for independence, confidence and self worth. Transitioning into law enforcement, I honed invaluable skills in communication and empathy, fostering relationships within diverse communities. However, it was my transition to high school counseling that truly resonated with my passion for making a difference.

Over the span of 24 years, I've guided students through the maze of academic choices and career possibilities. My expertise in college and career counseling has allowed me to offer tailored guidance, equipping students with the tools and confidence to pursue their educational and professional dreams.

My philosophy centers on the belief that each student has their own distinct path to follow. While diligence and commitment are crucial, I also emphasize the importance of self-care and individual development.

Master of Arts (MA) in School Counseling:

Heidelberg University

Bachelor of Science (BS) in Child & Adolescent Psychology:

Heidelberg College

Originally from Ohio, I moved to North Carolina in 2014 and have been working as a high school counselor ever since.  My approach is honest and focuses on organized, long-term planning that is rooted in getting to know the students and their families.

Working in high schools has given me the opportunity to guide students while navigating their educational choices.  I find value in helping students understand the process and all of the available options.  Providing the tools to broaden their point of view allows families to approach these decisions with confidence and excitement.

During my time as a school counselor, I have also been a coach and worked closely with student athletes.  I have experience with both the state and national governing bodies for athletics (NCHSAA, NCAA, and NAIA) and enjoy helping students grow in academics and athletics.

Invested in my students and their success, I am ready to go "all in" on helping them prepare for their future.

Master of Science (MS) in Mental Health Counseling:

Nova Southeastern University

Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Sociology:

University of North Carolina at Charlotte

As a North Carolinian, I attended undergraduate school at UNC-Charlotte with a degree in Sociology.  When I moved to South Florida to attend graduate school, I worked at Nova Southeastern University's career counseling office. There, I discovered a passion for guiding students through their next steps, whether it was graduate school or job placement.

After my time in Florida, I returned to North Carolina and continued my work as an Assistant Director in Career Counseling at Wake Forest University School of Law. While I learned a great deal in the graduate school setting, I missed working at the start of a student’s college and career exploration. This led me to transition to a role as a school counselor, working at the beginning of a student’s higher education experiences. I've dedicated over 20 years to helping high school students develop plans for their next steps. Working with students from freshman to senior year and beyond allows me to witness growth as post secondary plans come full circle.

Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of assisting students in achieving their personal goals, whether in vocational careers, college admissions, or securing scholarship opportunities. With my guidance, you’ll have peace of mind and a focus on nurturing your individual ambitions.
